Beginner’s Guide to DIY E-Juice (Vape Juice) & the Best Steeping Method

This is my very first tutorial post. Everyone has their own way of making e-juice — some methods are good, some aren’t. Feel free to check out other people’s tutorials too.

First, let’s go over the basic ingredients you’ll need:

Vegetable Glycerin (VG)

We usually just call it glycerin. If you want big clouds, you need to add more of this — it’s basically a must. If you don’t care about huge clouds, just use a moderate amount. VG is very safe, and it has a slightly sweet taste. Don’t ask me why it’s sweet — I don’t know either. Just taste it yourself. When buying, make sure you get food-grade VG.

Propylene Glycol (PG)

I won’t go into too much detail here. PG is low-toxicity (meaning the toxicity is very low), but it’s still technically toxic. If you’re allergic or have any bad reaction to it, stop using it immediately. If you accidentally get it in your eyes, rinse with water for about 1 minute and you should be fine.

Nicotine (Nicotine Salt / Freebase)

This is the important one — high-concentration nicotine is extremely poisonous. Never underestimate it. Whether it gets on your skin or in your eyes, the damage can be far worse than you imagine. So be extremely careful. I buy 36 mg/ml nicotine, which is already the highest I recommend. Don’t try to act tough and use higher concentrations. If it accidentally touches your skin, wash it off immediately with plenty of water.

Flavors

  1. No need to explain much — just buy whatever flavor you like.
  2. Don’t forget your tools: syringes of various sizes.
  3. I’ve already started mixing, so I’m measuring out the flavor and nicotine first.

Mixing Steps

In general, the order doesn’t matter too much — do whatever you feel like, as long as the ratios are correct. But from my long experience making e-juice, flavors dissolve more easily in PG. So this is what I do:

  1. Add PG first.

  2. Then add the nicotine solution and flavors.

  3. Put the cap on and shake the bottle vigorously until everything is evenly mixed.

If you’re a complete beginner and don’t know what “evenly mixed” looks like, add a tiny drop of food coloring before shaking. That way you can clearly see when it’s fully blended.

  1. After it’s well mixed, add the VG (vegetable glycerin) last.

  2. Shake again.

  3. Add coloring until you’re happy with the color. Done!

Making e-juice really isn’t as hard as people think. See? That’s it — your e-juice is ready.

Now the best part — Steeping (Waking/Maturing) the juice

Here’s where I share my unique, weird method that you’d never guess. There are thousands of steeping methods out there, but I only love mine.

You need a humidifier at home (the ultrasonic type everyone knows).

Why a humidifier?

The humidifier uses a small ultrasonic element to break water into tiny molecules. That’s exactly what we’re going to use.

Here’s the trick:

Place your sealed bottle of freshly mixed e-juice directly on top of the humidifier’s ultrasonic element and turn it on. You’ll see the liquid inside the bottle start rolling and churning like crazy.

Important: Do NOT open the bottle while it’s running! If you do, all the flavor molecules will escape into the air. Don’t ask me why — I learned the hard way after wasting 100 ml of juice.

That’s the end of the tutorial! Go make your own perfect e-juice now.

But if you’re hoping to make e-juice that tastes exactly like expensive imported brands… forget it. First, you don’t have the same level of skill yet. Second, you can’t get the same premium ingredients they use. If you want to make something like “Little Green Man,” you’d need Malaysian-imported flavors and their special additives — regular Chinese flavors can’t reach that standard.

E-juice is just a hobby. There’s no single “best” e-juice — the best one is always the one you make yourself and suits your own taste.

Happy mixing! :fire:
